This particular type of art consists of various colors such as yellow (the sun), brown (the soil), red (desert sand) and white (the clouds and sky). This method of painting can be painted on anything some including in the ancient aboriginal times: rocks, caves and etc. Most arts of dot painting were about nature such as animals and lakes or about dreamtimes. They used dot painting to paint in caves and rocks to show their religion.
Rock Painting
Rock painting, also known as Bradshaws, is found on caves in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. This painting was named after an European man,Joseph Bradshaw first reported them in 1891; however, to the Australian Aboriginals of the region, it was refered to as Gwion Gwion. This method of painting is composed by organic colors and materials. This particular type of painting is estimated to have a 40, 000 years of history.Rock paintings were about social activities, material culture, economy, environmental change, myth and religion.
